Harare- INMATE Jeffrey Jingura, a Class B prisoner convicted of theft escaped from Harare Central Prison on December 20 2025. He cleverly used a motor vehicle he was repairing at the prison workshop to make good his getaway.
Authorities have confirmed and are on high alert with investigations aunderway to determine how this happened.
The public is being warned not to approach Jingura if spotted, but instead report to the nearest police station or ZPCS.
This isn’t the first time an inmate has escaped from a Zimbabwean prison.
In March 2025, Luke Zinyengerere staged a daring escape from Harare Magistrate’s Court after hijacking a vehicle and speeding away. He was later recaptured and sentenced to 22 years in prison .
The infamous escapees in history are Stephen Chidhumo and Edgar Masendeke who broke out from Chikurubi Maximum prison.
