HARARE — The Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU) has raised concerns over reports that students at Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) are being evicted from campus accommodation.
In a statement, ZINASU warned that the sudden displacements are disrupting students’ studies and placing a heavy financial burden on those now forced to seek alternative lodging several kilometres away from campus.
The union called on CUT management to urgently engage affected students, guarantee continued access to essential campus services, and provide a clear timeline for resolving the housing crisis.
ZINASU further noted that the situation at CUT reflects a growing, system-wide shortage of student housing across Zimbabwe’s higher education institutions.
As of the time of publication, CUT management had not issued a public response to the allegations.
