Harare- She has been one of Harare’s most talked-about “unseen” woman until now, writes Nigel Pfunde.
Dr Paul Tungwarara’s wife, the media-shy Mai Tungwarara, finally made her public Prevail debut appearance last Friday at the launch of Talk and Pay (TAP) Micro Finance Institution. And yes, it was a shocker!
Sure, she popped up at Parirenyatwa’s Adnum House opening with daughter Tinotenda, but let’s be real that was not a Prevail event, but it was a Presidential event.
Last Friday’s TAP launch was her show!
Sources say Amai Tungwarara is a stickler for financial discipline.Even her hubby confessed that she was a major investor in TAP and she wasn’t about to let her generous, big-hearted husband throw money around without keeping tabs on the paper trail.
And it paid off. Instead of handing out fancy phone(obviously after empowerment initiatives) like at some Prevail events, the group donated 60 tonnes of food to the Defence Forces – a nod to the brave men and women keeping the country safe and stable.

It was a night for the mothers. Defence Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri was Guest of Honour, deputy minister Mercy Dinha and ICT Minister Tatenda Mavetera who took the mic to give Mai Tungwarara her flowers:
“We are happy to see you muroora and we need more of you,” said Hon Mavetera.
Then came the moment. After all the formalities, Dr Tungwarara couldn’t help himself.

‘Stand up honey so that they see you’ said love-struck Prevail Group International chairman Dr Paul Tungwarara last Friday at the TAP Microfinance launch
“I would also want to acknowledge my wife,” he said, smiling as usual. “She has popped for the first time at our event. She usually doesn’t come, but today she has popped up. I was wondering why… then I got the secret later. She invested a lot of money in Talk and Pay, so she wants to make sure and see where the money is.
“So may you stand up so that people can see honey.”
