President Mnangagwa officially opens state- of- the – art restaurant at Geo Pomona Waste Management site

HARARE – President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Thursday officially opened The Sprout, a five-star restaurant with state-of-the-art facilities located at the Geo Pomona Waste Management dumpsite.

The President was hosted for a luncheon at the new establishmen along with senior government and Harare City Council officials.

.This development marks a commendable milestone for Geo Pomona Waste Management and the nation, aligning with Zimbabwe’s objectives of promoting environmental tourism and gastronomy.

The company is also noted for its corporate social responsibility initiatives that support local communities.

The restaurant features elegant dining rooms, a modern bar, comprehensive ablution and restroom facilities setting a high standard for eco-friendly infrastructure.

It forms part of a waste-to-energy project by Geo Pomona, which integrates environmental management with energy production.

Geo Pomona has recently completed essential infrastructure, including a weighbridge, a hazardous waste landfill, an encapsulation unit, a water treatment plant, a fleet service centre and a sorting plant.

The company is also constructing an 18–22 megawatt power plant, which is expected to enhance Zimbabwe’s energy capacity.

Addressing guests at the opening, President Mnangagwa stated:

“It is my privilege and pleasure to be back here at
Geo Pomona Waste Management site; following my
previous visits.

” Ndakataura kuti nzvimbo ino yakanakisa kuti
unogona kuwuya nemudikani wako, muchidya
machips. Nhasi tiripano kuzodya pa restaurant
yakanaka kuti heki. Maona ka, kuti isu vadhara
tinenge taona zvirimberisa.”

He extended his gratitude to the management and partners of the establishment for their invitation, which included senior government members.

” We celebrate yet another aspect of the unfolding success story of
Geo-Pomona. I am encouraged with both the scope and
pace of development which is evident here.”

” The developments we are witnessing today fits
seamlessly within the broader objectives outlined in the
National Development Strategy 2 and Vision 2030,” he added.
