HARARE – Arsenal Football Club supporters in Harare have received police clearance to stage a street parade on May 31 following the club’s English Premier League title win which is the first in 22 years,reports Express Mail Zim.
The parade will kick off at 2pm from Harare Gardens and end at Alex Sports club.
The police approval corrospondence is dated May 22.
The Gunners clinched the 2025/26 league crown this month, ending a two-decade wait since their last title in the 2003/04 “Invincibles” season under manager Arsène Wenger.
The London side has now won 14 league titles in its 140-year history.
Human rights lawyer and Arsenal supporter Mr Obey Shava confirmed via X that the parade had been approved but said the development left him conflicted.
“The clearance does not sit well with me,” Shava said.
He cited selective application of the law as he has previously acted on behalf of clients under similar circumstances, but had applications thrown out.
Meanwhile, a staunch member of the Harare Arsenal Supporters Chapter has reportedly pledged four beasts to slaughter for fans during the planned celebrations.
Arsenal supporters watched their team’s final match accross uptown and downtown city watering joints on the eve of Africa Day.
