MUTARE— Manica Diamonds claimed their first victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Agama FC at Sakubva Stadium on Saturday, giving the club its first three points under new ownership and technical staff,reports Express Mail Zim.
Goals from Russell Kahiki, Farai Banda, and Marlon Maziriri sealed the win for the Mutare side in a must-win Castle Lager Premiership clash between two teams at the bottom of the table. Agama FC pulled one back through Ralph Nyamupurika, but it wasn’t enough to stop Manica Diamonds from ending a four-match winless run.
The result marks a positive start for the new leadership led by Evans Kamombo who has made tactical overhaul in all facets of the club management and morale in the dressing room was boosted.
The victory comes as the club returns to its home ground at Sakubva Stadium. Coach Patrick Mandizha described it as a “well deserved win” that would help the team fight relegation.
Midfielder Charles Teko Teguru delivered a sensational performance on yesterday’s game as he created all three goals with great finnese and deft touches in the middle of the park.
The victory came at a crucial moment for the Mutare-based side, just days after the club ushered in new leadership, and supporters believe the result could mark the beginning of a new era for Manica Diamonds.
From the first whistle, Sakubva Stadium was electric, with fans singing, dancing and rallying behind their team in an atmosphere that reminded many of the club’s glory days.
