MVUMA – Dinson Iron and Steel Company has unveiled a US$500 million expansion at its Manhize plant, raising total investment to US$2 billion by 2030, reports Express Mail Zim.
The Tsingshan Group project, a flagship of the Second Republic’s industrialisation drive, has already injected US$1.5 billion and created over 2 000 jobs.
Project manager Wilfred Motsi said the new funds will expand value addition through new machinery, while plans are underway for a cement plant, technical training institute and housing for workers.
“Government ha already set a layout plan for a town status in Manhize,” he said, citing rapid infrastructure growth including new and renovated schools.
This development will me make Mvuma the fourth town in the Midlands Province and government approved this request in 2021.
The company has also commissioned a 50MW power plant to support operations.
“The project is in line with Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030, launched by the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa, which aims to transform the country into an empowered and prosperous Upper Middle-Income Economy by 2030,” said Motsi.

The Manhize development is seen as a clear signal of investor confidence, with Tsingshan Group ranked as the largest steel producer in Sub-Saharan Africa and the sixth largest globally. Industry playersvwho spoke to Express Mail Zim, said the project exemplifies how targeted industrial investment is driving infrastructure growth, skills development, and job creation in line with Vision 2030.
