Harare- The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has officially announced the termination of the national team coach Michael Nees’ contract.
In a press release issued Wednesday, the football body expressed gratitude towards Nees for his contributions to Zimbabwean football during his tenure. The statement highlighted the coach’s dedication to the game and acknowledged the hard work he put into improving the national team’s performance and structure.
“ZIFA wishes to inform all stakeholders and members of the public that the Executive Committee has resolved to terminate the contract of Mr. Michael Nees with immediate effect,” the statement read. “The Association takes this opportunity to sincerely thank Mr Nees for his efforts and contributions to Zimbabwean football during his tenure. His dedication to the game and his service to the national structures are appreciated.”
While the reason for the termination has not been directly stated, ZIFA assured the public that the decision aligns with the goals of the association’s reform agenda, which includes enhancing technical development and ensuring the continuous growth of the game.
