Harare-Thousands of women gathered in Harare South, Hopley Farm as they seek to embark on a mission to drive for Constitution Ammendment Bill No.3 with the introduction of grassroots projects.
This initiative was welcomed by women from different communities which include the host Hopley, Mbare, Southlea Park, Budiriro among others.
Speaking to this publication, one of the organizers of the event ,Mrs Nkosilathi Munemo from ANON Institute, encouraged women to participate in the country’ decision citing CAB3 as a perfect opportunity for them to support as it aims to advance women’s interests.
This was also echoed by Guest of Honour, Dr Abigal Mupambi ,Deputy High Commissioner for Southern Africa Lawyers for Human Rights who bemoaned how women are always at the centre of abuse during elections.
“Women are subjected to all abuses from sexual to verbal in elections time.This is the reason why we support CAB3 which want to suspend elections a bit so we can be spared from this,”Mupambi said.
CAB 3 is a ammendment Bill which seeks to deals with a number of changes in the constitution which also includes the term limit of General Elections from five (5) years to 7 years.
Meanwhile, more than 100 women graduated with different courses including Beauty Therapy, Manicure and Baking.
Ms Pamela Pamire the founder of Tayaruka Foundation Trust encouraged women to take their courses seriously as they help them to better their lives.
Interestingly, 79-year-old Gogo Susan Gwaya from Hopley was among the graduates with a certificate in Cutting and Design .
