Zim pushes women-led trade agenda at Africa Investment Summit

SWAKOPMUN, Namibia – Zimbabwe’s Ambassador Apphia Musavengana is flying the country’s flag at the 3rd Invest in Africa Trade Expo and Business Summit underway in Swakopmund, Namibia.

The summit has drawn policymakers, entrepreneurs, investors and trade experts from across Africa to chart the continent’s economic transformation.

Addressing delegates on Friday, Ambassador Musavengana made a strong case for placing African women at the heart of trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). She urged greater backing for women-led enterprises and the dismantling of barriers that hinder their access to regional and continental markets.

“Empowering women is not just about equality. It is a strategic driver of economic growth, innovation and prosperity,” she said.

Ambassador Musavengana added that boosting women’s participation in trade was key to unlocking Africa’s economic potential and accelerating the AfCFTA vision.
