HARARE2 – The Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) has dismissed claims that tobacco selling floors have closed, saying the 2026 marketing season remains open as deliveries rise 34 percent and farmers earn US$561.6 million to date.

TIMB chief executive Emmanuel Matsvaire
In a statement, TIMB said reports circulating on social media of an early end to sales were false and misleading.
“Tobacco sales floors remain open to ensure all growers have adequate opportunity to market their crop,” the board said.
It urged farmers to continue with post-harvest processes, including grading and baling in preparation for sale.
“TIMB is the sole authority mandated to announce the opening and closing of tobacco sales floors through its official and verified communication channels,” the board said.
The board warned growers against acting on unverified information and said it would communicate any changes through its official channels.
