Sungura legend Nicholas Zakaria dies

Harare – RENOWNED sungura artiste Nicholas Zakaria has died.

He passed on Wednesday at the age of 68.

His legacy will forever be etched in Zimbabwe’s music history.

Zakaria’s journey in music began in the 1960s and he eventually formed the iconic Khiama Boys band which became a breeding ground for talented musicians.

His unique guitar playing style and soulful voice captivated audiences and his music continues to inspire generations

One of Zakaria’s most significant contributions to Sungura music was his role in grooming Alick Macheso, who is now one of Zimbabwe’s top Sungura musicians. Macheso has often credited Zakaria as a mentor and inspiration saying that he learned a great deal from him about music and life

Zakaria’s family has announced the death and said burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
