Lochard- Traffic police officers are currently attending to a fatal road traffic accident along the Harare–Bulawayo Road near Lochard, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) announced in an official statement.
Details regarding the number of casualties, vehicles involved and the cause of the crash remain limited as emergency personnel and police officers work to manage the scene and conduct preliminary investigations.
In light of the ongoing operation, the ZRP issued a stern warning to the public, content creators and media practitioners against speculating on the casualty list or circulating the identities of the victims on social media prior to formal notification.
”ZRP warns the public from naming victims until their next of kin or relatives have been informed formally. We urge socialites and journalists to report responsibly,” the police statement read.
Authorities stated that a comprehensive report detailing the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash will be released once officers conclude their scene investigations.
Drivers travelling along the Harare–Bulawayo highway are advised to exercise caution as emergency operations continue near the Lochard area.
However, some horrific images of the scene of the accident have been circulating on social media with wide speculation that some football executives might have been involved in the road traffic accident.
