Harare- DISCOVERY Ambulance Services (DAS) and Hoops 4 Hope Zimbabwe will host the Communities Basketball Festival (CB-Fest) on July 26 at the Dzivarasekwa Basketball Court emphasizing emergency preparedness and community health.
The free event, open to all and begins at 9:30 AM and runs until late.
Themed “Every Life Matters. Every Second Counts,” CB-Fest will offer free first aid training by DAS professionals, covering CPR, wound care, fracture management, and responses to drug overdoses. An ambulance open tour and health booths will complement the educational focus.
The festival also features a basketball tournament and a three-point shooting contest and a slam dunk competition to engage youth and promote healthy lifestyles.
“We’re investing in prevention through sports and education,” said David Munowenyu, CEO of DAS.
Faith Sekete, Marketing Manager for Hoops 4 Hope Zimbabwe noted the event’s role in youth development.
“Our basketball programs reach hundreds of young people weekly, teaching life skills to combat issues like drug abuse,” she said.
CB-Fest aims to build resilience in high-density communities like Dzivarasekwa, where substance abuse is a pressing issue.
