Bulawayo:Acting President Dr. Constantino Chiwenga has reaffirmed the Government’s strong commitment to the growth and modernization of Zimbabwe’s mining industry, during his visit to the 27th edition of Mine Entra – the country’s premier mining, engineering, and transport trade fair.
While touring various exhibition stands at the event, Dr. Chiwenga engaged directly with local and international stakeholders, gaining insight into the latest innovations, investment opportunities, and emerging trends shaping the sector.
He highlighted Government’s continued efforts to foster a business-friendly environment that attracts both local and foreign investment.Emphasizing the importance of value addition and beneficiation, Dr. Chiwenga stressed that Zimbabwe must capitalize on its vast mineral resources through domestic processing and industrialization to ensure that every Zimbabwean benefits.
“Our focus is not only on extraction but on ensuring that our mineral wealth drives industrialisation, job creation, and sustainable economic growth,” he said.
The Acting President also urged mining companies to adopt modern, efficient, and environmentally responsible technologies to improve productivity while preserving natural ecosystems and ensuring community well-being.
“Innovation and responsible mining are central to our national vision. We must embrace technology that promotes safety, efficiency, and environmental stewardship,” he added.
Zimbabwe’s mining sector remains a vital pillar of the national economy, contributing approximately 12% of GDP and accounting for nearly 80% of export earnings.
Mine Entra 2025 has once again provided a strategic platform for investment, collaboration, and knowledge exchange, all crucial to realising the country’s Vision 2030 – a goal to build a modern, diversified, and sustainable economy
