Harare- Newly promoted Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit Hardrock FC has appointed career sports journalist Bruce Chikuni as its new Head of Communications.

Chikuni is a well known figure in Zimbabwean sports media and joins the ambitious side following a distinguished career as a sports reporter for H-Metro and The Herald.

Analysts said his appointment is a strategic step by Hardrock FC to professionalise its brand and enhance its media presence as it prepares for its debut season in the top flight league.

Chikuni brings years of experience to the role, having covered Zimbabwean football extensively.

During his tenure at Zimpapers he became one of the most recognizable voices in sports journalism, known for his in-depth reporting and close relationship with players and club officials across the country.

His transition from the newsroom to club administration follows a growing trend in global football where clubs seek experienced media professionals to manage their public relations and communication strategies.

Hardrock FC has been making waves in the Zimbabwean football scene since its promotion. The club has demonstrated its intent to compete at the highest level, not only through strategic administrative appointments but also through aggressive recruitment on the pitch.

The club recently made headlines by taking its pre-season preparations to Botswana, joining established giants like Simba Bhora in seeking international exposure. They have also been active in the transfer market, securing the services of several key players, including Eswatini striker Sambulo ‘Masoso’ Simelane.

The appointment of Chikuni is expected to bridge the gap between the club and its growing fan base.

As Head of Communications, he will oversee the club’s media relations, digital content strategy, and public image.

“The appointment of Bruce Chikuni is a testament to our commitment to excellence both on and off the field,” a club source said.

“His deep understanding of the local football landscape will be invaluable as we establish ourselves in the Premier Soccer League.

“With the new PSL season on the horizon, Hardrock FC is positioning itself as a professional and forward-thinking organization, with Chikuni set to play a pivotal role in telling the club’s story to the nation.
