Zimbabwe’s acclaimed a cappella gospel ensemble Firm Faith Zimbabwe has once again demonstrated that music is a powerful force for unity and hope.
The group recently launched its ninth album titled Munesimba during a sold-out concert at Sandton SDA Church in Gauteng, South Africa.
The event drew gospel lovers from across the continent including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola, Malawi, Namibia, Lesotho, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Tanzania all brought together by their shared faith and passion for uplifting music.
“We know that South Africa is a key economic hub of the region. Many people come here seeking greener pastures, but they also face many challenges,” said Marshal Matsilele, Firm Faith’s music director.
“We are here to give them hope through powerful, inspiring music.”
Matsilele expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support.
“We are humbled by the turnout. It’s a blessing to see so many people come together and to know that our songs are bringing hope to many,” he said.
The concert featured guest performances from Reality 7 (South Africa), Rudo Acapella (Zambia), Reunion (Zimbabwe), and Emmanuel (South Africa) — and it lived up to expectations.
It was epic!
“The audience sang along to our songs, and their energy was incredible. South Africa showed us real love and we truly felt at home away from home,” added Matsilele.
Firm Faith also made history as the first Zimbabwean a cappella group to perform at a sold-out concert in South Africa. Security had to manage the large crowd, with some fans still trying to gain entry after the venue reached full capacity.
Among the songs that resonated most with the audience were Shoko reNgirozi Nhatu, Munesimba, Ngena Noah, I’m On My Way, Nginomhlobo, and Tenzi Nditungamire.
The group also made a heartfelt appeal for support to sustain their regional tours, including assistance in acquiring a public address system and a mini-bus to ease logistics.
“We’ve seen the impact of our tours, and we’re motivated to keep going,” said Matsilele. “We welcome anyone willing to come aboard and support our mission.”
Firm Faith rose to prominence in 2010 after winning the Harare’s Got Talent competition and has since grown into one of Zimbabwe’s most respected gospel ensembles.
Concert goers described the night as spiritually uplifting and unforgettable.
“I am from Malawi, far away from home, and life here can be challenging. But tonight, many of my questions were answered. I thank Firm Faith for such an inspiring concert may God bless their ministry and families,” said Grace who is one of the attendees.
“All the groups performed exceptionally well. We have truly been blessed,” added Bongani Mthembu from South Africa.
Following the resounding success of the Munesimba launch in South Africa, Firm Faith is now planning to extend their tour to Mozambique and Angola.
