BULAWAYO — At least seven Highlanders supporters were confirmed dead while four are reportedly seriously injured when they were involved in a road accident 20 kilometres from Mbalabala on Sunday evening,Express Mail Zim can report .
The vehicle was carrying Filabusi-bound Highlanders Football Club supporters who were on way home after the team’s 2–0 victory over Herentals at Barbourfields Stadium.
The incident involved a Nissan Caravan transporting supporters, a sedan and a haulage truck.
An eyewitness who was part of the rescue team spoke to Express Mail Zim in a telephone interview and she said the incident occured around 9 pm.

“We arrived at the scene soon after the accident and it was horrific,I have never seen such in my life.You could see brains gushing out from one of the victims and when police arrived we had already assisted some of them and loaded them in an ADV van which rushed them to hospital,I could count four,” said the eyewitness whose voice sounded shaken over the phone .
The eyewitness said authorities are at the scene working to clear the wreckage and to ascertain the full circumstances of the incident.

Emergency services and members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police are also reported to be at the he scene at the time of writing.
