MBABANE – A significant shift i underway in the Southern African creative economy as celebrated cleric Edd Branson Publishers spearheads a new movement designed to equip artists with the business acumen necessary to turn their talent into sustainable careers.
It began as a strategic initiative in the Kingdom of Eswatini and has evolved into a regional campaign, bridging the gap between artistic creation and commercial success for creatives across the SADC region.
This is marked by the release of a groundbreaking resource titled
“The Business of Art and Craft.”
In a bid to democratize access to information, Edd Branson publishers released the book as a free tool for the public.
“Although the text was originally authored with the Eswatini creative sector in mind, the strategic insights regarding branding, monetization and intellectual property have proven to be universal,” said a company representative.
Consequently, the book is reportedly already empowering artists and crafting professionals in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia fostering a unified approach to the business of art across borders.
The book was officially introduced to the public during the recent Disability Arts Festival.
The event was organized by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister Her Excellency Thulisile Dladla and provided a fitting backdrop for a project rooted in inclusivity and community empowerment.
The collaboration shows recognition by both the private and public sectors of the need to formalize and support the arts industry.
