Harare: The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) has appointed Dr. Eng. Tamara M. Stevenson to its Board of Directors adding a seasoned engineering professional and corporate leader to the Authority’s governance structure.
Announcing the appointment, CAAZ Management said;
“The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) Management and Staff are pleased to welcome Dr. Eng. Tamara M. Stevenson who was recently appointed to the CAAZ Board of Directors as a Board Member.”
Dr. Eng. Stevenson is a Professional Mechanical Engineer and a Fellow Member of the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe, with more than 20 years of experience in project management. She currently serves as the Deputy President of Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers where her work focuses on advancing STEM education, promoting gender equality and strengthening international collaborations.
In her past positions serving as Board Chairperson of CMED she led the transformation of the entity into a key contributor to road rehabilitation and infrastructure development.It was during Dr Tammy’s tenure that CMED established a Construction Unit and expanded its role in national infrastructure projects promoting the adoption of electric vehicles in Zimbabwe. She also played a key role in strengthening corporate governance systems and improving financial accountability.
Dr. Eng. Stevenson holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Project Management and a Master of Engineering degree in Manufacturing Systems and Operations Management in addition to several professional qualifications in business leadership.
Her contributions to engineering and leadership have been recognized through multiple awards particularly for her role in promoting women’s participation in engineering, mentoring young professionals and advancing leadership through innovation and resilience.
At CAAZ, Dr. Eng. Stevenson will serve as Chairperson of the Risk Management Committee. Her appointment is expected to enhance the Board’s oversight capacity drawing on her experience as a technocrat and corporate leader.
