The China-Zimbabwe Exchange Centre (CZEC) will host a conference on the China Zero-Tariff Policy at Celebration Centre in Harare on 30 April.
The event aims to educate businesses and the public on the policy, which takes effect on 1 May.
Speaking to journalists recently, CZEC Managing Director Walter Chanaka emphasized that the conference is open to both the public and businesses seeking to export their products to China.
“Whether you are a small-scale farmer, a processor, a manufacturer, or a trader, this conference is for you.
Because understanding policy is the first step to profit,” he said.
Chanaka added that the conference will serve as a platform for potential exporters to engage with experts, trade facilitators and successful exporters and other key stakeholders.
“Many Zimbabwean producers are unaware of how to meet Chinese standards, complete export documentation, connect with buyers, or leverage zero tariff benefits.
This workshop will simplify the entire process,” he remarked.
China’s Zero Tariff Policy allows 53 African countries that share diplomatic ties with China to export various goods duty-free.
According to experts, this move gives African producers access to China’s vast market, creates more jobs, boosts foreign currency earnings, and supports the growth of local industries.
Under the policy, Zimbabweans can export minerals, tobacco, citrus, horticulture, and cotton, among other products.
