Harare- Apostle Paul Mwazha the revered leader of the African Apostolic Church, has been declared a national hero by President Emmerson Mnangagwa. His hero status recognizes his decades long influence on Zimbabwe’s religious landscape and his contributions to national unity.
Born on October 25 1918, Apostle Mwazha founded the African Apostolic Church in 1953 establishing one of Zimbabwe’s largest indigenous churches with millions of followers across Southern Africa.
His teachings, strict moral code, and emphasis on African spiritual autonomy earned him a revered position in Zimbabwe’s religious landscape.
The announcement was made by Permanent Secretary Nick Mangwana, who stated that burial arrangements would be guided by the family. Apostle Mwazha will be laid to rest at Chirasauta on November 30 following a multi-day programme of public commemorations.
This recognition marks a significant milestone in Apostle Mwazha’s legacy joining a growing list of non-combatant national figures honored with the country’s highest recognition. Hie influence extends beyond Zimbabwe with a vast following in neighboring countries.
