Bindura – IN a timely intervention that comes when people living with albinism were facing immense hardships, businessman and philanthropist Dr Kudakwashe Tagwirei has thrown them a vital lifeline during an outreach programme held at Bindura Country Club over the weekend.
Recognising the urgent need for practical assistance, Tagwirei’s package includes boreholes for community nutrition gardens, wheelchairs, sunscreen lotions, scholarship and skills training all aimed at improving beneficiaries’ health and long type term livelihoods.
Zanu PF Youth League Deputy Political Commissar Taurai Kandishaya said the initiative seeks to uplift persons living with albinism through practical interventions that address healthcare needs and create sustainable economic opportunities. He noted that the programme is focused on genuine empowerment, with the goal of helping beneficiaries become self-reliant and economically active contributors to national development.

Meanwhile, Health Ambassadors for Economic Development (4ED) announced additional support, with chairperson Cynthia Chisiri revealing that 600 square metres of land in Harare had been secured for persons living with albinism to manufacture their own lotions. She explained that the project aims to move beneficiaries from dependency to productivity by enabling them to produce, sell, and donate skincare products.
National chairman of Albinism in Action for Economic Development, Gerald Mhandu also welcomed the interventions.
“This is a major boost for the community and a crucial step toward selfsufficiency exactly the kind of support that had been desperately needed,” he said.
