Cairo – Zimbabwe Liberated Girl Child in Action (ZLGCA) Founder and Executive Director Ms Anna Mabhena has been awarded a Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) degree by London Bridge Business School, Graduate School of Business Administration on Thursday.
The degree was conferred at a ceremony held in Cairo on the sidelines of the 13th Session of the Transformational Leadership for Africa Summit, held 11-16 May 2026.
Mabhena attended on exclusive invitation to the summit, described as Africa’s premier leadership convergence for senior decision-makers shaping policy, governance reform and institutional transformation.
The degree award citation stated:
“In recognition of the meritorious achievements and service of the subject person to humanity with privileges and honours appertaining thereto, in testimony whereof the common seal and the authorized by the Board and Senate are hereto affixed.”
Responding to the honour, an emotional Mabhena said: “I am deeply humbled and profoundly grateful to London Bridge Business School for this prestigious recognition. This Doctor of Public Administration is not just for me – it belongs to every young girl in Zimbabwe who dares to dream of a better future.”
She added: “To be acknowledged for my philanthropic work here in Cairo, on such a distinguished African platform, is overwhelming. This honour strengthens my resolve to continue empowering our vulnerable children and liberation war veterans’ orphans back home.”
Summit officials said Mabhena’s participation “enriched the summit’s discourse and further strengthened Africa’s collective leadership capacity in a rapidly evolving global environment.”
She also took part in the Transformational Leadership for Africa Masterclass, an executive-level course covering innovative methods of leading organizations in complex environments.
Ms. Mabhena has dedicated her life to uplifting vulnerable communities, particularly orphaned children and those born to Liberation War Veterans in Zimbabwe.
Her passion for societal impact is both inspiring and transformative.
As the Founder and Executive Director of ZLGCA, she has spearheaded a groundbreaking initiative focused on empowering young girls across Zimbabwe.
Under her visionary leadership, the organization has, within just three years, reached over 20,000 beneficiaries and built a strong membership base of more than 5,000 girls nationwide.
Through strategic programs in income generation, life skills training, and community engagement, ZLGCA continues to shape a generation of confident, self-reliant, and socially responsible young women.
In recognition of her outstanding leadership and contributions to national development, Ms. Mabhena was honored with the Leadership Excellence Award 2025 by Legacy TV, a prominent media platform dedicated to promoting progress and unity.

Additionally, she has been celebrated by provincial leadership in Bulawayo with the Women Mentorship Award, further affirming her influence as a mentor and role model.
