Sanyati-A suspect in the murder of businessman Joseph Mutangadura, Vengesai Jabulani Mutasa (41), has been arrested after callously shooting dead Constable Courage Muchechesi in Sanyati yesterday.
According to a statement by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the unfortunate incident happened at ZRP Sanyati.
“The suspect had shot Detective Constable Ngwenya of CID Homicide who was part of a team trying to arrest him in connection with the murder of businessman Joseph Mutangadura in August 2025.
After shooting Constable Muchechesi, the suspect went on to rob Abraham
Mayavo (30) of USD5-00 as he was in the process of making a report to the
police,” read part of the statement.
The ZRP commended members of the public in Sanyati, Kadoma, Chakari, and Patchway for quickly mobilizing and assisting in the arrest of Mutasa, the third suspect in the murder of Mutangadura.
He claims police detectives stole USD1000 from his lodgings.
Police said more details will be released.
