Drug bust : Cops seize 73 kilos of dagga

Chipinge- POLICE units in Chipinge and Beitbridge have intercepted over 70 kilogrammes of dagga (Marijuana) collectively from different couriers.

National Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrests saying the war on drugs will continue countrywide.

“On September 2, 2025, police in Chipinge, arrested bus driver Juda Gondo (27), bus conductor Abraham Marakia (62) and passenger Nyasha Jojo (30) for unlawful possession of dagga.

“The suspects were intercepted at the 256kilometre mark on the Ngundu-Tanganda Road,” said Commissioner Nyathi.

He said police searched the bus and recovered 66. 5 kilogrammes of compressed dagga, which was packed in 23 plastic packs.
On the second incident

Commissioner Nyathi said on September 3, 2025, police in Beitbridge, Zimbabwe arrested Stabile Dambudzo Magaya (34) for unlawful possession of dagga.

“The suspect, a passenger on a bus, was arrested at the 8 kilometre mark on the Beitbridge-Masvingo Road.
“Police recovered 7.4 kilogrammes of dagga.”
